my first client was disastrous

or why you should(n't) drink before work

The rush to make your first solid money is always the greatest.

So it was for me.

Back in February this knowledgeable although young person you know wasn’t… As reasonable as it may seem.

I’d take any client just to make money.

Big mistake.

You see, my first client was actually an inbound lead that asked me for ghostwriting.

“Oh so you know, comment and tweet stuff on my profile for a month”

He didn’t give me any more details.

What should be noted is that we’ve been friends for a solid time now.

He paid me $250 thru crypto and let me do my job.

And I wasn’t… Of the best clarity of mind on that time.

Did you think that I knew what an ICP was? Or how to actually get him clients?

I didn’t.

“But Seb don’t worry, he didn’t ask for such things” - I said to myself.

And so I wrote. And wrote. And wrote.

10th day passes. And 15th. And 20th. And finally 30th.

I got him grand… drums roll

150 follows. And 5 DMs. Erm…..

Yeah. Not perfect by any means.

I improved over coming months and also moved away from ghostwriting - but the core of this story is that you shouldn’t take any clients that you think will pay you.

You’ll waste:

  • Your time

  • Their time

  • Their money

  • Your reputation

AKA most valuable things you possibly could.

And that’s also what I’ll be adding to the sales part of the masterclass.

A section underlining psychology behind selling, dos and don’ts plus few things that overall helped me land better clients.

Much needed.

By the way, in upcoming 5 days I'll be choosing 5 betatesters for the product.

You can apply by 2 ways:

  • Reply to this email with your questions and suggestions - best one win a spot

  • Decipher the actual name of the product in a reply to the email - you get a spot if you guess both correctly. And I’m not going to reply whether it’s correct or not until I drop the beta.

    Here’s the image.

That said, if you’ve questions, find me on Twitter.

Bye.
